Biodynamic Massage

Biodynamic Massage meets your whole being. Developed by psychotherapist and physiotherapist Gerda Boyesen, it is designed to bring balance and wellbeing to the whole organism — mind and body.

Through attuned touch you are being invited to slow down, become present, listen inward, and return to yourself.

In our sessions I bring warmth, presence, and care, for your body to unwind at its own pace and come back to a state of balance and vitality.

In addition to Biodynamic Massage my background lies in Positive Psychology and Coaching, Organisational Culture Change / Leadership Development, as well as shamanic energy work and nature connection workshop offerings.

More on Biodynamic Massage

Biodynamic Massage was developed by Gerda Boyesen, who combined physiotherapy, psychotherapy, and an understanding of the body's natural self-regulating abilities. She found that through attuned touch, she could alleviate a wide range of psychological and somatic symptoms. In Biodynamic Therapy, the body and the mind are seen as one. We are one human organism, and everything is connected.

The role of the digestive system

A central idea in Biodynamic Massage is that the digestive system also processes stress and emotion — a process Boyesen called psychoperistalsis. During a treatment, the therapist uses a stethoscope to listen to your body's biofeedback to the touch. These sounds are its own language in itself, and the therapist may follow these sounds to help the body complete its own cycles of release and rest.

Attuned touch

What makes this bodywork special, in my opinion, is the attunement of the therapist to the client. The therapist's touch is there to meet and support you where you are at, rather than rigidly following a sequence. Therefore, your body can drop into a deeper sense of relaxation and safety. Often this is what the body needs to come back to a state of balance and harmony. Biodynamic Massage is commonly used within Biodynamic Psychotherapy, where it is an important part of the therapeutic process. However, the bodywork is its own modality and is enjoyed by many as such.

Work on different layers

As mentioned above, there are different techniques within Biodynamic Bodywork. Each technique has its own intention and purpose, and the massage therapist will work on different levels, depending on your needs. These levels include the skeletal, muscular, fascial / connective tissue, skin, and energetic.

The massage can be received directly on the skin or through light clothing. Most massages are without oil, only for few techniques the therapist uses oil.
